Metcalfe Forestry Co. is a family business in Grayling, Michigan, and we’ve been walking Michigan woods with landowners since 1998. We know your land is more than acres and board feet: it’s where you hunt, where your family makes memories, and something you want to pass on. Our job is simple: help your land work for you, with a plan built around your goals, timber taxes done right, and honest answers whenever you call.

Bryce Metcalfe, B.S., ACF

Owner · Consulting Forester

Bryce has been walking Michigan woods for Metcalfe Forestry since we opened in 1998. Raised in the forests of the Northeast, he cares about the same things our landowners do: healthy woods, good land, and a legacy worth passing on. As co-owner, he leads our management plans, timber appraisals, and field work across the state. Whether it’s a 20-acre woodlot or several thousand acres, he takes the time to learn what each landowner wants from their land and builds a plan to get there.

Susan Metcalfe, M.S., ACF

Owner · Consulting Forester · Timber Tax Consultant

Susan has co-owned Metcalfe Forestry Co. and Burns Timber Tax Service since 2006 and leads our timber tax practice. Before that, she was a forester on the Huron-Manistee National Forest (2002–2006) and served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Bolivia (1999–2001). She prepares federal Form T for timber sales under IRC 631(a) and (b) for landowners, accountants, farmers, and loggers, and has taught certified timber tax classes (SFI, SFE, and FISTA) for loggers, landowners, accountants, and foresters in Michigan and Wisconsin.

Matt Wawrzyniak, M.F., SAF

Consulting Forester · Timber Tax Consultant

Matt came to Metcalfe Forestry with a decade of business experience: three years as a partner in a Michigan real estate firm, followed by seven years as a financial advisor with Edward Jones and Fidelity Investments. He then earned his Master of Forestry from Michigan Tech. Whether you’re selling timber, filing taxes, or buying land, he’ll help you see the whole picture.

Parker is our forestry technician, helping with field work and timber inventories while finishing his mechanical engineering degree at Kettering University.
